Mindful Moments

This workshop is designed to help children build empathy, improve self-awareness and learn to manage emotions using meditation, movement (yoga and stretching), and mindfulness. Children will learn skills to build resilience, self-compassion and internal emotional regulation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Practice mindfulness through calming meditations 

  2. Learn breathing and mindfulness strategies to build focused attention

  3. Sharpen sensory and body awareness 

  4. Learn positive self-statements/mantras to build confidence and self-acceptance.

  5. Learn simple yoga practices to promote calm, relaxation, and awareness. 

Children ages 6-12 are invited to learn mindfulness practices, simple yoga poses, and basic meditation principles. There will be plenty of practice and resources will be sent home with the participant.

Courtney MacDougall, BA, RYT 200 is an experienced practitioner of yoga and mindfulness. She has advanced training through Y.O.G.A for Youth (Kundalini Yoga-40 hours), Trauma-Sensitive Yoga and is a certified Kidding Around Yoga Instructor. Courtney has been working with children for 5+ years, teaching and supporting integrative health and wellness. Courtney has combined her passion for yoga and experience working in mental health and has created a curriculum designed to help children, adults and professionals find peace and balance through yoga and mindfulness. 

Julie Torok-Mangasarian, MA: is experienced as a direct service provider, teacher and mentor. Julie has specialized training in play, practices of emotional and self-regulation, and expressive arts. Julie has training through Y.O.G.A. for Youth (Kundalini Yoga)-40 hours; Neurobiology of Yoga-6 hours.
