Mindful Movement Workshop

MINDFUL MOVEMENT WORKSHOP

Learning Objectives:

  1. Practice basic mindfulness through playful breathing exercises.

  2. Learn to reflect, relax and calm the mind.

  3. Sharpen sensory awareness and build focus.

  4. Apply grounding techniques to build confident and self-acceptance.

  5. Learn simple yoga practices to promote calm, concentration, and awareness.

Children ages 6-12 are invited to learn mindfulness practices, simple yoga poses, and basic meditation principles. There will be plenty of practice and resources will be sent home with the participant.

Facilitators:

Courtney MacDougall, BA, RYT 200: is experienced as a direct service provider to young children and families, teaching social and functional skills through training, encouragement and support. Courtney is also a registered yoga teacher and has advanced training through Y.O.G.A for Youth (Kundalini Yoga-40 hours), and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. 

Julie Torok-Mangasarian, MA: is experienced as a direct service provider, teacher and mentor. Julie has specialized training in play, practices for emotional regulation, and expressive arts. Julie has training through Y.O.G.A. for Youth (Kundalini Yoga)-40 hours; Neurobiology of Yoga-6 hours.
