Let's Wonder Together: Foundational Reflective Practice-Virtual Course

Continuing Education:Certificate of Completion -or- 6 hour CE certificate included.

Course Description: This in-depth workshop is designed for helping professionals to learn the fundamentals of reflective practice. Participants will explore self-awareness, cultural humility, genuine empathy, and honest curiosity as they apply to the reflective process. Participants will learn about the formation and maintenance of reflective space and relationships. Participants will participate in activities to learn about reflective capacity, reflective processes, and reflective listening. The ethical considerations that may arise when engaging in reflective supervision/consultation groups will be discussed. Participants will identify the role of the parallel process and learn to respectfully address the complex emotional nature of helping professions.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

•create and maintain a respectful, collaborative and reflective supervision space/relationship.

•appreciate diversity, equity and inclusion in the reflective process.

•build skills in facilitating reflective practice supervision and consultation groups.

•analyze ethical issues/dilemmas that commonly arise in reflective practice facilitation.

Learning Objectives:

1. Define reflective practice.

2. Identify how to respect and promote diversity and equity in the reflective process.

3. Describe 2 concepts needed for creating a reflective supervision space.

4. Identify 2-3 skills to promote effective reflective practice/supervision.

5. Define at least 2 common reflective practice models.

6. Explain 2 ethical considerations of reflective supervision.

Who should attend:

This is an intermediate level workshop designed for practitioners who want to utilize a reflective approach within their work.

Presenter: Julie Torok-Mangasarian, LMFT, RPT-S is a licensed marriage and family therapist, Registered Play Therapist/Supervisor (RPT-S), Endorsed Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, Reflective Practice Mentor (RPM). Julie is a CAMFT Certified Clinical Supervisor and specializes in the use of play to treat complex and developmental trauma in young children.

Morning Topics:

What is reflective supervision? Definition; basic components/tenets.

Diversity, equity and inclusion; creating refelctive space/stance.

Afternoon Topics:

Identifying the core components and challenges of reflective practice.

Ethical considerations.

Identify and practice the reflective skills.

CE’s: Attendance to this training meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and/or LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Prov. # 76629. Certificate of Completion will be delivered via email at the end of the training and upon completion of the survey/evaluation, and successful completion of the post-webinar quiz (must pass with an 80%). You must be present for the entire training in order to receive your CE certificate.
